Having spent the morning on your feet, transfer the short distance to one of Dublin’s undoubted focal points, Guinness Storehouse at St James’s Gate. Here, you’ll become one of the select few invited behind the scenes for a tasting and storytelling experience that takes you under the skin of the tastes and origins of Ireland’s national drink. Best of all, perhaps, you’ll learn the skill of pouring your very own pint.

Your chauffeur will take the long way back to your hotel, bringing more of the city into focus before you spend the evening as you wish.

Enjoy breakfast this morning before you’re met by your chauffeur, then set off on the short journey west to Co Kildare. Here, visit the home of Ireland’s world-famous horse-racing industry, the Irish National Stud. You’ll be treated to an exclusive tour, guided by a senior member of staff, lifting the curtain on this world-class facility, including a welcome reception in the Boardroom and a Stallion Parade. Many of the world’s most famous racehorses were sired and trained here, and you’ll get to see the inner workings of the stud, stables and training centre. You’ll also enjoy lunch and a private tour of the world-class Japanese Gardens, laid out by master Japanese designers in the early 20th century.

Later, continue southwest to Cashel in Co Tipperary, another of Ireland’s horseracing centres, for two nights at a grand, five-star hotel owned by a racing legend.

A less hurried day today, the timetable led by your wishes. Take time over a fine breakfast, before a stroll up the hill to the imposing ‘High King of Irish Monuments’, the Rock of Cashel. With history dating as distant as the 4th century, this is a uniquely historical site on the island of Ireland, with links to St Patrick, King Brian Boru and the King of Munster, Muirchertach Ua Briain.  You’ll have plenty of time to explore 12th-century Cormac’s Chapel and Round Tower and the 13th-century Cathedral, while drinking in panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

Later, with your chauffeur guide, perhaps explore wider Co Tipperary, including the ancient town of Fethard or a visit to historic Cahir Castle.

A great day on the road today. Your chauffeur will tour south from Co Tipperary to the coast of Co Cork, starting (or ending) point of the Wild Atlantic Way. The world’s longest coastal touring route, the Wild Atlantic Way has swiftly become one of its most acclaimed, covering some 2,500km from Co Cork in the south to Co Donegal in the north. You may wish to detour into Cork City – ‘the Rebel City’ – to visit its wonderful 18th-century English Market and historic university, or to nearby Blarney Castle, home of the famous Stone and idyllic gardens. Continue along the coast via colourful villages and craggy peninsulas with diamond-white beaches, making your way to your next base in the vivacious Co Kerry town of Kenmare.

Later, continue your exploration of the Ring of Kerry all the way to Killarney, through its vast National Park and over the twisting Molls Gap mountain pass as you make your way back to Kenmare.

Another great day of touring today, as you make your way north away from Kenmare, around Tralee, on the way to Tarbert on the north Kerry coast. Here, board the Shannon Ferry for the short crossing to Killimer in Co Clare. In Clare, take the coastal Wild Atlantic Way route through Spanish Point – so named for the tragic wreck of the Armada in 1588 – Milltown Malbay and Lahinch to the soaring Cliffs of Moher. Take time here to walk the edge of the island and feel the power of the Atlantic crashing below. Continue along the coast of Galway Bay, finally arriving at your five-star hotel just outside the city centre.

Dating to 1740 and rising from the shimmering water of Lough Corrib, this former abbey has been imaginatively transformed into a quite enchanting five-star hotel. This morning your chauffeur guides you west of Galway City, along the Wild Atlantic Way to Connemara. Here, at tiny Connemara Airport, board an eight-seater aircraft for the short and exhilarating flight to the magical island of Inis Mor.

On the island, you’ll be met by a superb guide in a specially adapted Land Rover, trundling off for a private tour of this most otherworldly place. Your guide is a native of Inis Mor, whose Irish-speaking family has lived here for many generations, able to access usually inaccessible hidden corners, while bringing its history and culture to life.

Return to Connemara by air in the afternoon, perhaps detouring for an evening in the city before making your way back to your hotel.

As the crow flies, your next base in Co Mayo is only an hour away, so this morning your chauffeur will head west to the coast of Connemara via some of Ireland’s most arresting wilderness. Perhaps visit the lively ‘capital’ of Clifden, where traditional music emanates from every other doorway, then wend your way along the coast to staggering Kylemore Abbey and Gardens. Later, travel inland to your castle hotel; near the classic Irish village of Cong, Co Mayo – made famous by the John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara classic The Quiet Man.

Spectacularly set on the north shores of Lough Corrib, this former home of the Guinness family is a wonderful place in which to round off your trip.
