This week-long small group rail tour is a fantastic exploration of Scotland’s glens, islands and history. In the company of our expert local tour leader, discover the rise and fall of the Jacobites, visit locations made famous by Queen Victoria, and experience the finery and warmth of a Highland welcome. Journey by train amidst mountain, moor, and from coast to coast, experiencing the enthralling contrasts as glen and sea pass by the window. Enjoy visits to dramatic castles and an exclusive owner-led tour at a hidden-gem garden.

Location

This tour begins in Aberdeen then moves onwards into Scotland’s Highlands for stays in Plockton and Oban, with train travel along the Kyle and West Highland Lines. You will cover the final section of the West Highland Line on your final journey south to Glasgow, where this tour concludes.

Simply complete the form below to reserve your place(s). We will hold your place(s) for 48 hours to provide time for you to pay the deposit of 25% per person.

The price is £2895 per person sharing a twin or double room. The price for a single traveller is £3595.

Price includes:

  • Six nights in hand-picked, excellent quality hotels on a B&B basis
  • Welcome dinner in Aberdeen on the first night. Dinner on the last two nights is also included. A light lunch on Day three is also included.
  • Entrance to all attractions included in the tour itinerary
  • Rail travel from Aberdeen to Plockton, Mallaig to Fort William and Oban to Glasgow as well as ferry travel from Skye to Mallaig
  • The services of McKinlay Kidd’s tour leader, accompanying the group and providing expert guiding and assistance throughout.
  • Transfers as described, including luggage transfer where applicable
