We’ve designed this trip to include a departure from Southampton to Jersey, though flights from other UK airports are available and we can easily tailor-make this journey to suit you. You may even prefer to travel by ferry from Poole in Dorset. Either way, once you arrive on Jersey, simply collect your rental car, and you’ll be at your first hotel in around 15 minutes.

Your First Accommodation on Jersey

Dating from 1674 and close to the heart of the island, your first hotel has been created from a classic and formerly private country house. Peacefully situated amidst Jersey’s green lanes, the hotel has undergone much recent upgrade to its fine rooms and elegant restaurant, while the award-winning gardens and heated pool couldn’t be more inviting during the three nights you’ll spend here.

What to See and Do

It’s easily manageable size makes Jersey the ideal location for a week away. Capital St Helier enjoys a confident bustle day and night, blending one or two familiar high-street names with a variety of assorted local shopping and dining opportunities, as well as its superb and historic market. Here, you’ll find some 50 local traders offering fine locally produced and sourced treats of all kinds. Away from this focal point, lose yourself on the ever-changing coastline (Jersey doubles in size at low tide, one of Europe’s most dramatic) while exploring its many castles, forts and lighthouses. And be sure to take time to unearth the story of the island’s occupation during WW2, told in vivid detail at the superb War Tunnels Museum. Of course, there’s plenty of places in which to slow down and relax, perhaps over seafood at a coastal cafe or just a simple saunter on one of many golden beaches.

Enjoy one of our favourite Channel Island excursions today, your first full day on Jersey.  Head south-east to the ancient harbour at La Roque to meet a superb local guide who will, if you need them, fully equip you with outer- and footwear suitable for this gentle and absorbing beach stroll. With its vast tidal range, Jersey’s beaches reveal themselves as a haven for an endlessly fascinating array of sea-life, your hugely experienced guide bringing a rare clarity to her beloved subject. This hands-on tour tells the story of the unique biosphere that exists here, told with humour and a relaxed twinkle, and perhaps an oyster or two from the nearby farm. The tour’s start time is governed by the tide, so you may have a morning or afternoon to yourself, for which we’ll make sure you’re equipped with plenty of information to help make the most of your time.

You may elect to spend part of your day relaxing in the refined surroundings of your hotel, strolling the colourful gardens or even taking a dip in the heated pool before reclining alongside with a good book. On the other hand, there’s so much to see here. We love to rent an eBike and gently roll along the defined cycleways that run much of the length of the coast. Take a short boat trip to an ancient offshore fort, delve into more history throughout the island, or walk the cobbles in one of of the colourful island villages.

Time to pack this morning and bid farewell to your first hotel, but there’s no rush to make the late-morning check-out. You’re even welcome to spend more time by the pool if you wish. Later, take to winding country laneways as you make your way a short distance north to the island’s only winery. Set in the grounds of an 18th-century farmhouse, this 20-acre private estate produces a fine selection of wines, ciders and spirits amid some of Jersey’s most arresting countryside. Today, you’ll enjoy a guided tour as part of a small group, telling the story of the genesis and continuation of wine production here, and of course, sampling one or two along the way. The estate features a good restaurant, too, so there’s no need to  dash away.

Your Second Accommodation on Jersey

Close to the coast and beaches at Rozel on the island’s north-east corner, your accommodation is an alluring and elegant hotel that began life as a private residence for a passionate gardener in the 19th century. On 8.5 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds, the hotel has seamlessly blended its rich history with modern elegance.

The range of bedrooms feature either private terraces opening up to the gardens and surrounding woodlands, or first-floor balconies beautifully enhancing the sense of space and light. The hotel is a beloved spot for locals, particularly for its breath-taking scenery and indulgent afternoon teas.

A 15-minute drive east this morning will bring you to St Catherine’s, departure point for your RiB adventure today. Sailing as part of a small group in the company of an experienced skipper, you’ll be fully equipped before setting off to experience Jersey’s north coast from this wonderful perspective. Jersey’s fabulous North Coast stretches for nine miles and features dramatic, jagged cliffs interspersed with secluded coves, caves, and valleys. A typical trip navigates the bays between St. Catherine and Greve de Lecq, revealing hidden beaches, ancient fishing harbours and the historic Ronez Quarry. Highlights include sailing inside the mesmerising Devils Hole cave,  while listening to captivating tales of the sea and the island’s rich history.

A final day to do with as you wish, perhaps taking to the soft sand of the beach at Rozel or making your way along the line of the island’s north coast. Perhaps head south to discover the botanic gardens at Samares Manor, before braving the mediaeval heights of imposing Mont Orgueil Castle for panoramic views of the east coast. Then, in the evening, indulge in a fine-dining dinner at your hotel, or something simpler at the hotel’s sister pub.

Relax over a fine breakfast this morning, before the short drive to Jersey airport and your return flight to the UK mainland.
