This exclusive short break delivers a charming combination of a fabulous driving experience in a choice of classic car and unforgettable accommodation in an historic castle.
In this bespoke weekend you can experience some of Ireland’s most spectacular driving scenery, all from behind the wheel of your choice of classic vehicle. Select from a sleek 1974 MGB roadster, a delightful 1971 Rover P5b, stylish 1990 Alfa Romeo Spider, beautiful 1979 Mercedes 350SL or charming 1970 Morris Minor.
We will recommend routes so that you can enjoy the gentle sloping landscapes and the meandering country roads of Ireland, whichever castle option you select.
Your accommodation choices are as follows:
Originally built in the sixteenth century but now offering some of Ireland’s finest 5 star accommodation, Dromoland Castle oozes historic significance and regal grandeur. Located in southern County Clare, the hotel’s exquisite renaissance structure elegantly sits amidst acres of grounds and immaculately manicured gardens.
Dromoland Castle’s unique blend of old-world opulence with contemporary facilities create a luxurious yet contented place to spend a weekend, and each room is thoughtfully appointed and individual in design.
The hotel offers a wealth of activities to cater for all desires whether you prefer to take a swing on its championship golf course, pamper yourself with a spa treatment or truly indulge in the castle fantasy with a spot of archery or falconry. Dining here is a truly gourmet affair with restaurants for both formal and informal dining boasting abundant and innovative menus.
A mere eighty minutes North West of Dublin in Glaslough, Monaghan lies the magnificent Castle Leslie Estate, situated in one thousand acres of rolling emerald countryside. Serenity, character and a strong sense of lineage pervade the grounds here as, impressively, the estate remains in the hands of the Leslie family who bought it way back in the 16th century.
Extensively restored in recent times to its original splendour, this luxurious hotel today offers charming accommodation, plentiful dining options including the award-winning Snaffles restaurant and a diverse range of on and off-site activities including horse riding, fishing and kayaking.
The castle’s rooms are steeped in history, retaining their original features and dotted with eclectic family collections from centuries past. Each room holds a story, from the governesses’ room which accommodated tutors and nannies throughout the years to the reclaimed cellar designed by Sir John Leslie or Uncle John as he is more affectionately known (you may even meet him at breakfast!). His room features a somewhat surprising glitter ball in the bathroom which apparently reflects his love of ‘boom boom’ music…
The classic cars are collected in and returned to Dublin, and you can enjoy a two night stay in your choice of castle hotel as described.
