Flexibility, Reassurance & Guarantee

We want you to be able to book with McKinlay Kidd with confidence, while recognising that current times are uncertain. That’s why we have introduced the following policy offering reassurance and reinforcing our value for money guarantee.

Flexibility

For all new bookings made to 31st March 2021, if you need to postpone your trip to a later date for any reason, we will do this for you free of charge providing:

  • You advise us four or more weeks in advance of the departure date for non-flight-inclusive tailor-made holidays or eight or more weeks in advance for flight-inclusive tailor-made trips or small group guided tours
  • You confirm a departure date for your new trip at the latest by 31st October 2021
  • Your new date of travel is before 31st October 2022

If Covid-19 specifically impacts your plans nearer to the departure date, contact us and we will still do our best to rearrange your trip at no extra cost to you if we possibly can.

Refunds

If restrictions relating to Covid-19 are imposed at the destination of your trip resulting in significant changes which mean we cannot fulfil your holiday, we will offer you an alternative of equivalent or higher value if possible or a free postponement. If this is not acceptable, you are entitled to a full refund. This situation applies, for example, if your destination is Scotland and the Scottish Government were to impose restrictions on overnight visitors in the area you are due to visit covering the time of your trip.

However, if you are unable to travel to the destination for reasons non-specific to the destination, for example Covid-19 restrictions local to your home or blanket advice by your government not to travel, then we will offer to postpone your trip as above or provide you with a credit to use against a future trip for travel by 31st October 2022. Alternatively, we will provide you with a cancellation invoice in accordance with our terms and conditions for you to make a travel insurance claim.

Value for Money Guarantee

For any bookings moving from 2020 to 2021, we will hold the price for you, with the exception of changes in flight routes / costs, where we may have to pass these on. In this instance, we will inform you at least eight weeks prior to departure. For bookings moving to 2022, we may have to apply increases in-line with our costs and will advise you of this as far in advance as possible, at least eight weeks prior to departure. If the price for your trip as advertised on our website is cheaper in 2021 or 2022, we will refund the difference to you.

We continue to offer our McKinlay Kidd value for money guarantee. All our holiday prices include a service charge of £9 per person per night towards the costs we incur in researching, planning and designing your holiday. We guarantee to refund this service charge if you believe that arranging your holiday through McKinlay Kidd has not met your expectations for value. All we ask is that you write to us within seven days of your return and explain your reason for claiming the refund. This will ensure that we can improve the experience for all our future guests.

Financial Protection

McKinlay Kidd is a bonded tour operator – your holiday and money are fully protected in line with prevailing legislation.

McKinlay Kidd has been established since 2003 and is still owned by the founders, Robert Kidd and Heather McKinlay, working with an experienced, talented and professional team. Covid-19 has brought emotional and financial challenges beyond anything we could have envisaged when we started the business. Your health and safety is paramount and it is a condition that our business partners sign-up to the Covid-19 “Good to Go” scheme or an appropriate equivalent.
