Day 1 – Overnight Journey to the Highlands
Make your way to London Euston and step on board the Caledonian Sleeper train for your clickety-clack overnight journey into the heart of Scotland. Drift off as you are pulling out of the bustling city of London, then rise in the morning in a whole new world, surrounded by wilderness scenery and the freshest, pure air.
Day 2 – A Day at Leisure of Perthshire
Upon arrival at Rannoch station, you’ll be met by our local driver-guide and transferred the short distance to your hotel, your base for the next two nights.
Today is yours to explore this faraway slice of the Highlands. Perhaps you will take a stroll around the woodland trails that skirt beautiful Loch Rannoch. The Clan Trail is marked by waypoints telling the stories of the seven clans who made this sometimes harsh land their home many centuries ago. The skyline here is dominated by Schiehallion, regarded as one of the most picturesque peaks in Scotland, and where a wide variety of flora and fauna can be spotted.
Your Luxury Accommodation in Perthshire
Recently created from the shell of a long-derelict Victorian coaching house and outbuildings, your luxurious hotel retains many original features and incorporates elegant modern touches to present a most appealing place to stay within a remote and beautiful setting.
Relax in the sumptuous guest lounge with a local gin and tonic, admiring the neat courtyard, before dining in the light-flooded restaurant, with a terrific menu of local, seasonal produce.
Day 3 – A Private tour of Perthshire
This morning after breakfast, you’ll be met by your driver-guide and taken on a three-hour guided tour of rural Highland Perthshire. With the tour tailored exactly to your requirements, our hand-selected local guide knows every inch of this varied landscape like the back of his hand, meaning you will uncover countless hidden secrets along the way.
Day 4 – Over the Sea to Skye
After a final delicious breakfast and bidding a fond farewell to your charming hotel, you will be picked up by private transfer and taken to Rannoch Station, where you will board the regular West Highland line train to Mallaig. On arrival, take the ferry to Armadale on the wildly romantic Isle of Skye, where you will be transferred to your next inviting hotel.
Your Luxury Accommodation on Skye
Your lodging is a very special place in a magical setting, nestling at the foot of Kinloch Hill on the tranquil shoreline of the sea-loch Na Dal in Sleat. Steeped in heritage and history, and exemplifying all the traditions of highland hospitality, the hotel is noted for its engaging, informal atmosphere and a welcome every bit as warm as the log fires ablaze in every hearth. Interiors are distinguished by fine antiques, prints, paintings, and sporting trophies – plus Macdonald family portraits, photographs and treasured mementos. Not to mention that the dining is remarkable – in a renowned restaurant full of character and elegance.
Day 5 – A Private Tour of Skye
After your mouth-watering breakfast, one of our favourite local guides will collect you from your Skye hotel and take you on a full tour of the island. If there is anything in particular that you would like to see, the guide will try and incorporate this into your private tour while encompassing the most remarkable parts of Skye, along with some local secrets. Particular highlights can include Dunvegan Castle, Waternish, Portree and the Trotternish peninsula.
Day 6 – Explore Inverness and return to London
Today you will depart from the gorgeous Isle of Skye as you take your private transfer to Kyle of Lochalsh, from where you will travel on the equally scenic North Highland train-line to the city of Inverness. On arrival, you will be greeted by a charismatic local guide, who will take you on a half-day tour of the rich history of Inverness and the surrounding area. After your tour, perhaps take some time to explore the idiosyncratic plethora of shopping and restaurants – including the unique Victorian market – that call the city home. Make your way back to the train station in plenty of time to enjoy the amenities on board your return sleeper journey to London. Refreshed in body and soul after your Scottish Highland jaunt, your holiday will come to a close back in the hubbub of the UK’s capital city.
